Which fin drives are compatible with the Cajo Traverse Fin Drive Mount?
Our Fin Drive Adapter is compatible with most standard kick-up fin-style pedal drives, including Hobie MD 180, Pelican, Vibe (Hero 2.0 era), and Lightning Kayaks fin drives. It is NOT compatible with the Hobie 360 drive — that one is integrated with the Hobie Pro Angler 360 hull and only works on that vessel.

Does the Cajo Fin Drive Adapter work with the Hobie 360 drive?
No. The Hobie 360 drive is integrated with the Hobie Pro Angler 360 hull and is only compatible with that specific vessel. Our adapter does work with the Hobie MD 180 (the kick-up fin version).
Also asked as: hobie 360 compatibility · can i use the 360 drive on cajo · does the pa 360 fit · mirage 360 cajo
Does the Cajo Fin Drive Adapter fit the Hobie Mirage Drive 180?
Yes. The MD 180 with kick-up fins is the most common drive used with our Fin Drive Adapter. The mount holds the drive securely with no significant wobble.
Also asked as: hobie md 180 cajo · mirage drive 180 fit · can i use mirage drive in the terra · hobie mirage with cajo
Is the Fin Drive Adapter the same across all Cajo models?
Yes — the same Fin Drive Adapter works on the Outpost 100, Outpost 128, Terra 116, and all Highlander AirTrek inflatables. One buying note: for rigid hulls, the standalone Fin Drive Mount is the right pick (the hulls already include the rudder and steering handle); for the inflatables, the Highlander Fin Drive Mount Kit bundles what you need. You can technically move one adapter between boats (about 20 machine screws to dismount and remount), but most owners buy one per boat.
Also asked as: is the fin adapter universal · do i need a different adapter for the highlander · same fin drive adapter for outpost and terra · one adapter for all cajo kayaks
Can the Highlander inflatable use a fin drive?
Yes. The Highlander 100 and 120 AirTrek inflatables are compatible with our Fin Drive Adapter. The Highlander + a Hobie MD 180 is one of our most popular setups across the lineup.
Also asked as: fin drive on the highlander · airtrek with hobie drive · inflatable fin drive cajo
Does the fin drive adapter let me go in reverse?
The reverse capability depends on the fin drive you're using, not the adapter. The Hobie MD 180 (kick-up fin drive) has built-in reverse, and the adapter passes that through. The adapter itself is a passive mount — it doesn't add or remove drive capabilities.

Can I use the Traverse Pedal Drive on a non-Cajo kayak?
The Traverse Pedal Drive Mount System is designed specifically for Cajo hulls and inflatables. It's not engineered or supported on other manufacturers' kayaks.
Also asked as: traverse drive on hobie · use cajo pedal drive on another kayak · traverse drive third party hull · can i put cajo drive on my old town
Can I get an Outpost 128 with the Hobie ePDL+ Pedal Drive instead of the Traverse?
Hobie doesn't make an ePDL drive — you might be thinking of the Old Town ePDL system, which is NOT compatible with our boats. What you CAN use is a Hobie kick-up fin drive (including the MD 180) via our Fin Drive Adapter. That's the only Hobie pedal-style option that works on a Cajo hull.

Can I mount a trolling motor on a Cajo kayak?
Yes. Every Cajo model (Terra 116, Outpost 100, Outpost 128, Highlander 100, Highlander 120, Highlander 140T) has three Power-Pole Micro Anchor bolt patterns on the stern (center plus two flanking positions). Trolling motors with a Power-Pole-compatible base (e.g., Newport NK180 Pro, Bixpy Power-Pole base motor mount) attach directly. (Note: Power-Pole stern pattern is DIFFERENT from the Minn-Kota bolt pattern on the bow of the Terra 116 and Outpost 128 — the Minn-Kota RTA-17 puck is NOT Power-Pole-compatible. And both are DIFFERENT from the MotorGuide quick-release puck pattern. See the bow-mount and bolt-pattern Q&As below.)
Also asked as: trolling motor on outpost 128 · can i add a minn kota · mount a motor on the back · garmin force fit · stern motor cajo
Can I mount a bow-mounted trolling motor on the Outpost 128 or Terra 116?
The Terra 116 and Outpost 128 are specifically designed with Minn-Kota trolling motors in mind — including their weight, batteries, and electric setup. There's plenty of volume in the nose of those vessels to support the motor's weight, and believe it or not, the added weight actually makes standing even easier for you since it acts like a ballast.
Two things to get right on the install. Hardware: the bow inserts are M6 x 1.0, so mount the quick-release with M6 x 1.0 machine screws in 316 stainless — the correct length depends on your specific quick-release plate/puck, so measure yours (we don't have specs for every quick-release, and the hardware in the puck kit isn't guaranteed to fit the bow inserts). Front handle: you'll need to remove the front carry handle so the motor shaft clears — normal for a bow motor install, not a hull modification.
Important — bow pattern is Minn-Kota-specific. The bow of the Terra 116 and Outpost 128 has the Minn-Kota quick-release bolt pattern, NOT a generic universal mount. Other brands (e.g., MotorGuide Xi3/Xi5) use different hole spacing on their puck mounts — those will require some DIY work to fit. See the MotorGuide Q&A below.
Also asked as: bow motor on 128 · bow motor on terra · can i add minn kota bow mount · bow trolling motor outpost · bow trolling motor terra · bow mount fit cajo · minn kota on terra 116 · will a bow motor work on the terra · terra 116 trolling motor compatible · does the terra handle a trolling motor in front · weight in the nose of the kayak · will the motor make the terra unstable
I have a MotorGuide Xi3 (or Xi5 / Tour) — will the puck and quick-release fit the Cajo bow?
Ah, not quite! The MotorGuide quick-release puck mount has a different hole pattern than Minn-Kota. It would require a little bit of DIY work to get the Xi3 quick-release puck mounted on the Cajo bow. The bow of the Terra 116 and Outpost 128 has brass inserts molded to the Minn-Kota pattern specifically, so the MotorGuide puck won't drop in out-of-the-box. Owners going down the MotorGuide path typically drill an adapter plate or redrill the puck's mounting holes to match the bow.

Cajo bolt patterns — what's on the bow vs the stern? (Minn-Kota / Power-Pole / MotorGuide reference)
Three patterns to keep straight:
- Cajo BOW (Terra 116 and Outpost 128 only) → Minn-Kota quick-release bolt pattern. A Minn-Kota puck/quick-release drops in cleanly. The Minn-Kota RTA-17 puck is NOT Power-Pole-compatible — it has its own bolt spacing and is specifically for the Cajo bow, not the stern.
- Cajo STERN (every Cajo model — Terra 116, Outpost 100, Outpost 128, Highlander 100, Highlander 120, Highlander 140T) → Power-Pole Micro Anchor bolt pattern, three positions (center + two flanking). Newport NK180 Pro, Bixpy Power-Pole base motor mount, and other Power-Pole-compatible bases attach directly.
- MotorGuide puck (Xi3, Xi5, Tour, etc.) → different hole pattern than Minn-Kota, so it does NOT drop into the Cajo bow as-is. Requires DIY (adapter plate or redrilling) to fit.
If you're shopping for a trolling motor and want a no-DIY install on a Cajo: Minn-Kota for bow (Terra 116 / Outpost 128), or any Power-Pole-base motor (Newport NK180 Pro, Bixpy) for stern (any Cajo model — rigid or inflatable).

Will the Newport NK180 Pro mount on the Outpost 128 / Outpost 100?
Yes. The NK180 mounts directly to the Power-Pole bolt pattern on the stern of the Outpost 100 and 128. If you also want to keep the rudder, owners have successfully side-mounted the NK180 next to the rudder on one of the flanking Power-Pole mounts.
Also asked as: newport nk 180 cajo · nk 180 pro outpost · can i mount a newport motor
Can a Cajo kayak accept a gas outboard motor?
No. Cajo kayaks are not designed for gas outboards. Electric trolling motors mount in two locations: (a) stern — every Cajo model (Terra 116, Outpost 100, Outpost 128, Highlander 100, Highlander 120, Highlander 140T) has the Power-Pole Micro Anchor bolt pattern with three positions (Newport NK180 Pro, Bixpy Power-Pole base, other Power-Pole-compatible bases attach here); (b) bow (Terra 116 and Outpost 128 only) via the Minn-Kota quick-release puck pattern (the Minn-Kota RTA-17 puck is bow-only — it's NOT Power-Pole-compatible). Brands with different puck patterns (e.g., MotorGuide Xi3/Xi5) require DIY work to fit either location.

Will a Bixpy motor work with Cajo?
Yes — Bixpy's Power-Pole base motor mount fits the Terra and other Cajo stern mounts perfectly. Bixpy's fin-drive socket motor mount also fits our Fin Drive Adapter for in-hull mounting.
Also asked as: bixpy on terra · bixpy fin drive mount · can i use bixpy with cajo
Can I mount the rudder off-center to keep a center-mounted trolling motor?
Yes, but we've never tested the performance with the rudder offset. More commonly, customers offset the motor and leave the rudder centered. Either configuration uses the Power-Pole bolt pattern on the stern.
Also asked as: offset rudder cajo · flank rudder trolling motor · side mount rudder
Does the Horizon Pro Seat fit non-Cajo kayaks?
The Horizon Pro Seat is designed for Cajo rigid hulls and also fits select Vibe models (including the Vibe Shearwater and Cubera). It can technically be retrofitted to other brands with DIY work, but we don't officially support that.
Also asked as: horizon seat on vibe · will the cajo seat fit my old town · horizon pro on shearwater · swap seat to other kayak
Does the Horizon Elevated Seat Perch fit a Vibe Yellowfin Tandem?
Most likely yes — the Horizon Elevated Seat Perch fits any Vibe kayak with a Hero 2.0 seat (released around 2019 and newer). If your Yellowfin Tandem uses the Hero 2.0, the Perch will fit it.
Also asked as: horizon perch on vibe yellowfin · yellowfin tandem seat perch · vibe hero 2.0 perch
Can I pedal the Traverse Drive comfortably from the Horizon Elevated Seat Perch? / Is the perch only for anchored fishing?
Hey [name], you can definitely operate the Traverse Drive from the perch — we do it all the time. Pro tip: pick up an extra Steering Handle Base and mount it to the gear track on the perch. That way, when you're sitting up high, you can quickly move the steering handle closer to you. Trolling from the elevated position works great with this setup.

Will the Cajo Quad Rails fit a Vibe Shearwater?
Yes — the Quad Rails fit the Vibe Shearwater. The Horizon Pro Seat and Pro Seat Perch (with rails) also fit the Shearwater.
Also asked as: quad rails on vibe shearwater · shearwater rails compatibility
Which Quad Rail lengths fit the Highlander 100?
Only the 44" Quad Rails fit the Highlander 100 — they span between the front and rear gear mounts, with brass inserts near the flush-mount rod holders for the rear mounting point. The shorter lengths (12", 26", 32") fit the Outpost 100 but NOT the Highlander 100 — the Outpost 100 has a different gear-mount layout that accommodates all rail sizes.

Will the Quad Rails fit a Hobie Pro Angler 12 (PA12) for a captain's bridge?
We haven't tested it on a PA12 yet, but the 26" and 32" Quad Rails are the most common lengths used for captain's bridges. The bases can extend up to 1" beyond each rail end, giving you a max mounting width of 28" or 34" respectively. Measure your install width and we'll help confirm.
Also asked as: quad rails on hobie pa12 · captains bridge hobie · pro angler 12 rails
Do you recommend any landing-gear style carts (Wilderness Freedom Launcher, Sidekick, Boonedox)?
We don't recommend top-loaded landing-gear carts on any kayak — they have a high damage rate, and most manufacturers (including us) exclude hull damage caused by them from the warranty. The YakAttack TowNStow bunk-style cart is the safest option today.
Also asked as: boonedox cart cajo · wilderness freedom launcher fit · landing gear cart · sidekick cart compatibility · cart with cajo kayak
Are the Boonedox transport wheels compatible with the Outpost 128 or Terra?
We can't guarantee compatibility with the Boonedox system because it's a top-loaded design — hull or rail damage is always a risk with that style on any brand of kayak. The rails are mounted securely with brass inserts and machine screws, but we don't certify Boonedox.
Also asked as: boonedox on outpost 128 · boonedox terra · can i use boonedox
What kayak cart do you recommend for trails, rough terrain, and sand?
The YakAttack TowNStow bunk cart, especially the sand-tire version, is our recommendation for rough terrain.
Also asked as: best cart for cajo · cart for sand and trails · recommended kayak cart · towNStow bunkster
Will Cajo make its own kayak cart?
No — we don't plan to get into the cart design game. The YakAttack TowNStow (bunk-style) is what we recommend.

Can the Outpost 128 fit on a standard kayak trailer like the Yakima EZ Rider?
Yes — for the Outpost 128 you shouldn't have to change anything on a Yakima EZ Rider trailer setup. The hull rides on the same wrap-around pad supports used for boats like the Wilderness Tarpon.
Also asked as: outpost 128 trailer · yakima ez rider cajo · trailer for cajo · can i use my kayak trailer
How do I transport a Cajo kayak from home to the water?
A standard kayak trailer (Yakima EZ Rider or similar) handles the rigid boats. The Highlander AirTrek inflatables pack into a bag and ride in any vehicle. Truck-bed transport with foam blocks and a hitch extender works too — pick a setup rated for the weight of your specific model.

How should I set up PVC bunks for an Outpost 100?
PVC bunks work great for the Outpost 100. Set them about 6.5" apart on center for optimal balance.
Also asked as: pvc bunks outpost · bunk spacing outpost 100 · trailer bunk setup · how far apart pvc bunks · bunk centerline distance
Will PVC bunks damage the hull around the scupper holes?
Depends on the manufacturer and the hull design. Our boats are good-to-go with parallel PVC bars running down the channels under the hull, so 6.5" on-center spacing won't cause damage at the scupper area.
Also asked as: pvc bunks hull damage · scupper holes pvc bunks · bunks damage cajo hull · bunks under scupper area · bunk safe for outpost hull
What's the weight capacity of the Outpost 128 PDL?
The Outpost 128 PDL is designed for heavy rigging and fishing. The published 500 lbs is actual usable weight capacity with stock fittings already accounted for (including the seat and rudder). That's the self-bailing limit of the scuppers — no further reduction needed.
Also asked as: outpost 128 weight limit · how much can the outpost 128 hold · 128 capacity · max weight outpost · usable weight after seat and rudder outpost 128 · does the 500 lbs include the seat
What's the weight capacity of the Outpost 100 PDL?

Also asked as: outpost 100 weight limit · how much can the outpost 100 hold · 100 capacity
What's the weight capacity of the Terra 116 PDL?
The Terra 116 PDL has a usable weight capacity of 475 lbs. That's the self-bailing limit of the scuppers, so the kayak stays dry up to that load.
Also asked as: terra 116 weight limit · terra capacity · max weight terra · terra 116 usable load · how much can the terra hold
What does "usable weight capacity" mean on Cajo kayaks?
Usable weight capacity is the self-bailing limit of the scuppers — the maximum load at which the kayak still drains water rather than taking it on. It's a more conservative number than total float capacity and is the one we publish.
Also asked as: usable vs total capacity · what does usable weight mean · self bailing limit

How much does the seat adjust forward and backward?
The Horizon Pro Seat adjusts approximately 24 inches forward-to-back range — wide enough to accommodate paddlers from 4'6" to 7' tall with the Traverse Pedal Drive. With a fin drive, the leg-length range extends roughly another 12" because the fin drive itself has shaft-length adjustability.
Also asked as: seat adjustment range · how far does the seat slide · forward back seat travel · can the seat move forward
What's the height range Cajo kayaks accommodate?
With the Traverse Pedal Drive, comfortable use spans 4'6" to 7' tall. With a fin drive (Hobie MD 180 etc.), the range opens up to roughly 4' to 7.5' because fin drives have additional shaft-length adjustability.
Also asked as: minimum height for pedal drive · how tall do i need to be · am i too short for cajo · am i too tall for the kayak · height range cajo

What are the Horizon Pro Seat measurements (high, recumbent, perch)?
- Seat base: 21" wide, 17" deep
- High position (neutral): 10" from deck
- Recumbent high position: front of seat raises to 15" from deck
- Recumbent low position (surf launch): 6.4" from deck
- With the Horizon Seat Perch: 17.6" from deck
Also asked as: horizon pro seat dimensions · how high is the cajo seat · seat height range · recumbent seat positions
Does the Cajo seat swivel?

Also asked as: does the seat spin · swivel chair cajo · rotating seat
Is there a low seat position for surf launches?
Yes — the recumbent low position drops the rear of the seat base to 6.4" off the deck, lowering the center of gravity for punching through surf and fast-moving water. The front support stays at its current height.
Also asked as: low seat position surf · center of gravity seat · surf punch seat · recumbent low position

Also asked as: fin drive kit includes rudder · adapter come with rudder · do i need to buy the rudder
Where is the rudder mounted on Cajo kayaks, and can I move it?
The rudder is mounted to a Power-Pole bolt pattern on the stern. The stern of every Cajo rigid hull has three Power-Pole mounts — center plus two flanking — so the rudder can be offset to a flank mount if you want to put a trolling motor in the center. We haven't formally tested offset-rudder performance, but several customers have used it.

What size bolts secure the steering cables on the rudder system?
Steering-cable bolts (rudder system): M5 × 12 mm, 316 stainless steel, truss- or mushroom-head (the wide head gives the most surface area on the steering cable). These are the two locking bolts on the foot-steering side — if yours arrived missing, submit a claim and we'll ship them: https://caminojourney.com/pages/claims-form. (These are the steering-cable bolts, not the bow trolling-motor mount — that hardware is M6 × 1.0; see the bow quick-release Q&A.)
Also asked as: rudder bolt size · steering cable screw size · m5 bolt rudder · replacement bolts rudder
My rudder pull-up cord is too short — how do I fix it?
The pull-up rope comes double-wrapped around the rudder blade axle. Removing one wrap adds about 22 mm of usable rope while still functioning correctly.
Also asked as: rudder pull cord short · pull up rope too short · rudder rope adjustment
Where do I mount my fish-finder transducer on the Outpost 128?
The Outpost 128 has a removable electronics pod. The transducer mounts to the bottom of the pod (no drilling required), and the top of the pod has a thru-hull wiring kit that runs cable and power into the pod without drilling the hull.
Also asked as: transducer mount outpost · where does the fish finder go · electronics pod transducer · ducer location 128
Does the Terra 116 have plates for wiring a fish-finder or motor through the hull?
Yes — the Terra 116 has three factory-installed Power Plates: bow, cockpit, and stern. They're dedicated drill-through points — install a thru-hull wiring kit (like the one we sell) into a plate and run motor power, fish-finder cable, or Power-Pole wiring through the hull without drilling the hull itself. The Outpost 100 and 128 have the same three plates.
Also asked as: power plates · terra power plates · terra 116 wiring plate · thru hull wiring terra · can i wire a motor through the hull
How do I insert track-mount accessories on Cajo gear tracks?
The tracks are top-loading at the key-slot cutouts. If a key slot is missing or you're using a third-party YakAttack mount, T-bolts can be inserted at a 45-degree angle anywhere along the track without needing the key slot.
Also asked as: how to load track accessory · t-bolt cajo gear track · top loading gear track

Are spare parts available for purchase?
Yes — most parts are available even though they aren't listed for browsing on the site. Message our support team on the live chat, tell us your kayak model and which part you need, and we'll send an invoice; the part ships as soon as it's paid. Carry handles, skid plates, drain plugs, J-hooks, and assorted hardware all go this way. Want me to connect you with our staff to get that started?
Also asked as: where do i buy spare parts · replacement parts cajo · can i get a spare · buy individual parts

The Cajo Kayaks Spare Parts Kit ($99.99) contains replacement service components for our rigid hulls — carry handles, D-rings, fasteners, and assorted hardware and small parts. It does not include Traverse Drive parts (no spare prop or prop pin). For Traverse Drive parts, contact support.
Also asked as: what's in the spare parts kit · spare parts kit contents · does the kit have a prop
Can I buy replacement handles for my Cajo kayak?
Yes. Carry handles aren't listed for browsing, but there are two ways to get them: the Cajo Kayaks Spare Parts Kit ($99.99) includes carry handles along with D-rings and fasteners, or our team can invoice you for just the handles you need. Tell us your model and which handle it is (bow, stern, or side) and we'll get the right part out to you. Want me to connect you with our staff to set that up?
Also asked as: replacement carry handle · buy a new handle for my kayak · where can i get a side handle · broken handle replacement part · bow handle cajo
What's the Cajo warranty?
Cajo includes a limited lifetime warranty on the hull, 5 years on the Traverse Pedal Drive, and 1 year on parts. We handle parts issues directly with you. For hull claims on a boat bought from a dealer, we coordinate the replacement through that dealer behind the scenes.
Also asked as: whats the warranty · how long is the warranty · warranty length cajo · is this under warranty · warranty on the kayak
How long is the Traverse Pedal Drive warranted?
5 years.
Also asked as: traverse drive warranty · pedal drive warranty length · how long is the drive warrantied
How do I submit a shipping or warranty claim?
To submit a claim, complete the Claims Form and provide as much detail as possible. Our team will follow up in a few business days with next steps after reviewing the details.
Claims Form: https://caminojourney.com/pages/claims-form
Also asked as: how do i file a warranty claim · claims form · start a warranty · submit a claim · damage claim · shipping claim · how to submit a claim · file a warranty
What info do I need to file a claim?
We need the hull serial number (HIN — etched on the stern starboard side of the hull), date of delivery, 3–4 clear photos of the issue from different angles, and a short description of how it first appeared. For broken parts, video is helpful.
Also asked as: what do i need for a warranty claim · info needed warranty · claim form requirements · what photos do you need
If I bought my Cajo from a dealer and need a warranty claim, do I have to drive it back to them?
No — you don't have to physically return to the dealer for most warranty issues. For parts and replacements we ship directly to you. For full hull replacements, we coordinate through the dealer behind the scenes (they handle the swap logistics with you locally, you don't have to drive a 6-hour round trip).
Also asked as: do i have to drive to the dealer for warranty · warranty if dealer is far away · return to dealer for warranty · ship hull replacement direct
Will processing a warranty claim void my ability to return the kayak?
No — processing a claim does not void your return options. Kayak returns are handled by the policy of the dealer you purchased from, not by us directly.
Also asked as: does warranty claim void return · can i still return after a claim · warranty vs return
I have multiple separate defects on my kayak — what's the fastest way to get them all fixed?
Submit a single claim through our claims form at caminojourney.com/pages/claims-form with your kayak's HIN, plus photos and a short video of each issue. Once it's in, our warranty team will ship a CAJO Spare Parts Kit and any specific replacement parts (steering handle, drive, hardware) needed based on what you describe. That's faster than chasing each issue separately and gives our product team the data they need to feed back into QC.
Also asked as: multiple problems with my kayak · many issues at once · everything is wrong with my kayak · a bunch of broken things · list of defects warranty
My steering handle isn't turning anymore / cable is fraying or seizing / handle is hard to move — what do I do?
Hey [name], sorry to hear you're dealing with that. We've determined that a few steering handles shipped with too much slack in the cables which causes them to bind and seize internally. Here's a quick video that shows what's happening: https://www.facebook.com/reel/2192584174839504. We'll gladly ship you another ASAP. Please complete the form below so we have all your info to send a replacement: https://caminojourney.com/pages/claims-form. Important: if you already tried the rudder-cord unwrap fix and saw broken strands appear in the cable, the cable's done — don't keep testing, just file the claim and we'll send a new handle.
Also asked as: steering handle not turning · steering handle isn't turning anymore · handle is stuck · steering cable fraying · steering handle stiff · steering cable broke · rudder cable frayed · cant turn the rudder · steering seized · handle cable jumping · freyed cable · can't steer anymore · broke strands in the braided cable · broken strands steering cable · strands snapped in the cable · tried the facebook fix and it broke · tried the fix joshua posted and it broke · tried fix and cable broke
My rudder controls work fine one way but it's hard to turn the opposite way — what's wrong?
Ah gotcha. That's an easy fix. Some of the rudders came with the rudder pulley cord double wrapped around the rudder axel. It only needs to be looped over the axel once. All you have to do is pull the rudder cord back through the collar, unwrap it once, then re-thread the cord and you're good to go! BEFORE you start: look at the steering cable for broken strands or fraying. If you can already see strands coming apart, skip this fix — that's a different defect (cable slack inside the handle housing) and forcing the handle to test will finish off the cable. In that case just file the claims form at https://caminojourney.com/pages/claims-form with a short video and we'll ship a replacement handle ASAP. If the cable looks intact, run the unwrap fix and you're back in business.
Also asked as: steering binds one direction · rudder turns one way but not the other · hard to steer one direction · rudder asymmetric · one side steering tight · cables binding steering handle · rudder works fine one way · rudder hard one direction · works one way hard other way · fine one way hard the other · rudder pulley cord double wrap · rudder cord wrapped twice · unwrap rudder cord · rudder one direction stiff · lopsided rudder pull · hard to turn the opposite way · comfortable one way not the other
My replacement steering handle is also binding / 2nd replacement has the same issue / replacement cable broke too — what now?
Ah man, that's not what we wanted to hear — the replacement handle must've had the same cable-slack issue from that early-production batch. We're shipping you another one and tracking this on our QA side so the next one is from a clean batch. Here's the quick video that shows what's happening: https://www.facebook.com/reel/2192584174839504. Please complete the form below so we have all your info to send the next replacement: https://caminojourney.com/pages/claims-form

My propeller isn't aligning properly with the pedal drive — can this be fixed?
Hey [name], sorry to hear your prop isn't aligning correctly on the Traverse Pedal Drive. We had a few drives ship with that issue and swapping the drive out for you is the cleanest path — saves you the headache of taking the drive apart, and gets you back on the water fastest. We'll gladly ship you another ASAP. Please complete the form below so we have all your info to send a replacement: https://caminojourney.com/pages/claims-form. In the meantime, it's fine to keep using the drive — just be mindful to manually align the prop before raising the drive so it doesn't catch on the way up.
Also asked as: prop not vertical · prop sits at 45 · prop won't slide up · propeller misalignment · prop misaligned on traverse · drive prop angle off · prop locked but not straight · propeller alignment fix · can the prop alignment be fixed
I assembled my Traverse Drive but the prop isn't completely vertical with the indexer set — can it be adjusted?
Ah bummer about the prop alignment — we've had a few drives reported that weren't quite aligned before the housing was sealed at assembly, and we're happy to swap that out for you. Submit a claim at https://caminojourney.com/pages/claims-form with your HIN and a photo of the misalignment. If you purchased through a dealer, we'll coordinate the swap directly with them in the background so you don't have to manage two threads.
Also asked as: prop not vertical with indexer · indexer set prop misaligned · traverse drive assembly misaligned · prop angle off after install · assembled drive prop off · can the prop be adjusted · which dealer to swap drive

Do you ship internationally?
Yes — for countries without a local Cajo distributor we ship direct via LCL (Less than Container Load). It's not fast but it's reliable. The 4-step process:
1. Create an account on our site (caminojourney.com) and add your shipping address and phone number for our logistics team.
2. Tell us what you want on your order and we'll send you an invoice via email.
3. International shipping cost: $300 USD.
4. We'll crate everything for maximum shipping protection and ship via LCL. Average EU delivery time: ~50 days.
For Canada, Highlander inflatables and the Traverse Pedal Drive System can ship via standard checkout (faster than LCL). For all other countries — Netherlands, Latvia, Greece, Russia, Spain, France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Panama, Australia, and most others — use the 4-step LCL process above.
We're also in active distributor conversations for the EU; new distributor coverage may come online over the next year.

Why did my Terra 116 arrive in more than one box?
The Terra 116 PDL ships in two boxes — the hull in one, and the pedal drive, rudder, seat, and rigging hardware in a separate parts box. The Outpost 100 and 128 pack those parts inside the cockpit for shipping, but the Terra's open SUP-style deck has no enclosed cockpit to hold them, so they travel in their own box. Both boxes are sent together. When your Terra arrives, make sure you've received every box before you sign, and check the parts box against the packing list — if a box is missing or a part didn't make it, file a claim at https://caminojourney.com/pages/claims-form and we'll get it to you.

Where is my order?
It depends on what you ordered:
- Hulls (Outpost, Terra, Highlander) ship from a dealer — Cajo doesn't stock or ship hulls direct. Contact the dealer you purchased from for tracking; they own that shipment.
- Accessories, replacement parts, and direct-from-Cajo orders (Quad Rails, seats, drives, hardware kits, anything you bought via caminojourney.com or via support) ship from our warehouse. Reply to your shipping confirmation email, or contact support with your order number.

Can I order a custom hull?
No — custom hulls aren't something we can do. Each hull mold runs $50,000–$100,000, so we focus on innovative configurable designs that adapt to many third-party motor and drive options instead of customizing per buyer.

How much does the Traverse Pedal Drive cost?
$1,199.99 standalone, or $899.99 when bundled with a hull (automatic $300 discount).
Also asked as: traverse drive price · how much is the drive · traverse cost · pedal drive price
Do you offer bundle pricing or discount codes for a kayak plus accessories (Quad Rails, paddle, etc.)?
The one automatic bundle we run is the Traverse Pedal Drive deal — $300 off when a Traverse Drive is added to any Cajo hull or Highlander, regardless of where you buy. It comes off automatically at checkout (no code), so line totals just show the lower price — e.g. Outpost 128 + Traverse Drive shows $2,999.98 instead of $3,299.98. Beyond that, we don't run a general accessory-bundle discount or public discount codes — the listed price is the price. Since rigid hulls are sold through dealers, the boat's price is set by your dealer, so ask them whether they'll bundle the kayak with accessories or run their own promo.

What's the price difference between using the Traverse vs. a Hobie Mirage 180 drive on a Cajo kayak?
About $629.99 cheaper to use the Traverse (when bundled with the kayak). Roughly:
- Traverse Drive bundled: $899.99
- Hobie MD 180 + Cajo Fin Drive Adapter Kit: $1,399.99 + $129.99 = $1,529.98

Is the Cajo Outpost 128 suitable for open ocean / inshore saltwater?
Yes. Standard safety practices apply — wind, current, chop — but the hull is designed to ride over chop while keeping a stable base.
Also asked as: outpost 128 ocean · saltwater cajo · offshore kayak fishing · ocean fishing cajo
Can the Terra 116 handle ocean / saltwater fishing?
The Terra is built around a SUP-style hull that gives solid initial stability in chop — a good fit for protected coastal water, bays, and inshore stretches. We haven't field-tested it ourselves in every region's conditions, so for offshore, open-water, or heavy-swell use the safest call is to talk to a local Cajo dealer or post in the Cajo Owner's Group (facebook.com/groups/caminojourneygroup) where owners share what's worked in their conditions. Standard saltwater rinse / dry / store applies on the drive.

Can the Cajo Outpost 128 handle cold-water / Alaska / halibut conditions?
The Outpost 128 has the highest freeboard in the rigid lineup (8–9") and a 500 lb usable capacity, so cold-water fishing with layered gear is within its design range. We haven't field-tested it ourselves in Alaska or every cold-water region, so for trip-specific conditions the safest call is to check with a local dealer or post in the Cajo Owner's Group (facebook.com/groups/caminojourneygroup) where owners share regional experience. Cold-water marine-safety practice (drysuit, PLB, weather windows, etc.) is independent of the boat and the customer's call.

Can the Cajo Outpost 100 handle chop and bay conditions?
The Outpost 100 is built for light chop and protected bays. The hull is designed to ride chop while staying stable. We don't make claims about specific regions or sea states beyond what the hull and freeboard can handle — for region-specific advice the best move is a local dealer or the Cajo Owner's Group (facebook.com/groups/caminojourneygroup). Standard kayak awareness (wind, current, weather windows) still applies.

Can I hunt from a Cajo kayak?
Yes — plenty of Cajo owners hunt from theirs, most often for waterfowl and duck, but people bow hunt and even deer hunt from them too. Go with a rigid hull rather than an inflatable Highlander: the Terra 116 is the standout, with a large open SUP-style deck that gives you room to move, haul gear, and set up for a deer rig or a dog. The Outpost 128 is the pick for heavy rigging — the highest freeboard in the lineup (8–9") and 500 lb usable capacity for a fully-loaded blind setup on bigger water. Mount a gun or bow rest (Railblaza makes one) to your gear tracks or Quad Rails with standard track hardware — no drilling, and supported rigging like that keeps the warranty intact. Firearm safety and your state and local hunting regulations are always your call.

How do CAJO kayaks compare to Vibe? / Is CAJO related to Vibe?
Same founder — Camino Journey was founded by the person who founded Vibe Kayaks and served as its CEO. Vibe was built to make kayak fishing accessible to everyone, and those boats are still around for the anglers who love them. CAJO is his new pro-series line: the next evolution, built for more comfort, storage, and rigging straight out of the box. Here's how the CAJO rigids map to the Vibe lineup, on published specs:
- Outpost 128 — the next evolution of the Shearwater 125. It adds internal bow storage, under-seat storage, and a big removable under-seat drawer, and its horizontal rod stagers hold baitcasters, which the Shearwater's didn't.
- Terra 116 — the evolved Cubera 120. It adds in-hull wiring access with three power plates, a bow motor mount, and it comes with a rudder and steering handle — the Cubera 120 has none of those, and can't mount a rudder at all.
- Outpost 100 — the compact, throw-and-go rigid. Real fishing capability in an easy-to-handle hull, with pro-level comfort, storage, and rigging.
Across all three rigids, the Horizon Seat is included — multiple seating positions, and armrests with gear tracks for rigging — the rudder steering handle installs in about two minutes with a more robust turning radius, and every hull is molded from CAJO's performance HDPE — about 10% lighter while adding durability and strength, so the boat handles easily and stays stiff and true over the years. We think the world of Vibe; CAJO is simply where the platform goes next.

Which Cajo kayak is right for me?
To recommend the right boat, know three things — and if the customer hasn't said, ask before recommending: (1) their size (height and weight); (2) how much weight they'll carry (fishing gear, camping gear, a dog, etc.); (3) what type of water — river, flat water, open water, nearshore, or offshore. Then match. The biggest hull is not the default answer:
- Outpost 100 (rigid, 10', 400 lb) — rivers, flat water, smaller water; lighter anglers; easiest to car-top and handle solo. No bow motor mount.
- Terra 116 (rigid, 11'6", 475 lb usable) — the salt-and-surf hull: SUP-style stability in chop and a bow Minn-Kota motor mount. The lead whenever nearshore salt, surf launches, or PNW/Chesapeake-style fishing is in the plan.
- Outpost 128 (rigid, 12'8", 500 lb) — open water and offshore, tournaments, electronics-heavy builds; the only hull with the built-in electronics pod, plus the same bow Minn-Kota motor mount as the Terra. The pick when capacity, the pod, or offshore range genuinely matter — not the automatic answer.
- Highlander 100 / 120 (inflatable solos, 10' / 12') — for apartments, small cars, and travel. The 100 packs smallest; the 120 gives more deck in the same packed footprint. Nearshore and surf play are fine; never recommend a Highlander for offshore.
- Highlander 140T (inflatable tandem, 14') — two-person days. Same offshore limit as the other Highlanders.
Good to know across the line: all six boats have the Power-Pole stern mount (motors can mount there too); all three rigids self-bail through scuppers; the Highlanders shed water off the sides like a SUP, so they don't need scuppers.
When recommending, name the best fit AND one or two alternatives with the reason each earns a mention (e.g., "Terra 116 if salt or surf is in your plans; Highlander 120 if storage is tight but you want more deck").

Which Cajo fits a smaller or lighter angler?
A smaller or lighter angler (say 5'1", 125 lb) doesn't need capacity headroom — lead with the Outpost 100 (rigid, 400 lb capacity covers a light angler and gear many times over) or the Highlander 100 (inflatable) if storage or transport is tight. They're the easiest boats in the line to handle on and off the water, and every Cajo rigid fits riders from 4'6" up, so fit isn't the constraint — handling and load are. Still ask what they'll carry and what water they fish before locking it in. Alternatives worth naming with the why: the Terra 116 if they fish nearshore salt or launch through surf, and the Highlander 120 if they want more deck room in the same packed size. The Outpost 128 only earns the recommendation if they're building heavy — trolling motor, full electronics, big load — or heading offshore.

What's the difference between the Outpost 100 and Outpost 128?
The Outpost 128 is longer (12'8"), with a higher usable weight capacity (500 lbs vs. 400 lbs on the Outpost 100), an electronics pod, more deck area, and a bow Minn-Kota motor mount — the Outpost 100 has no bow mount. It's the big-water, tournament, electronics-heavy boat. The Outpost 100 (10') is lighter, easier to handle solo, and faster to load — the better fit for smaller water and lighter anglers. Both share the stern Power-Pole mount (motors can mount there too) and self-bailing scuppers. Pick by your size, load, and water rather than defaulting to the bigger hull, and don't skip the third rigid: the Terra 116 (11'6", 475 lb usable) sits between them and is the salt-and-surf option.

What's the difference between the Highlander 100 and Highlander 120?
Both are AirTrek inflatable solos that take the same Traverse Pedal Drive and fin-drive options. The 120 is two feet longer — more usable deck and slightly better tracking; the 100 is more compact, easier to handle solo, and packs smallest. Pick by angler size and storage: a smaller or lighter paddler, tight storage, or a small car points to the 100; more deck and gear room points to the 120. Fishing with a partner, kids, or a dog? Point them at the Highlander 140T, the 14' tandem in the same line. All Highlanders are fine nearshore and in surf play, but never recommend one for offshore — that's rigid territory (Outpost 128).

Which Cajo rigid kayak fits a 6'5", 280 lb angler?
The Outpost 128 PDL is the best fit at that size — 500 lb usable weight capacity, 24" seat travel, and accommodation for paddlers up to 7' tall. The Terra 116 (475 lb capacity) is feasible but tighter on margin.

Is the AirTrek 120 a SUP with kayak features, or a kayak with SUP features?
More of a kayak than a SUP. The deck is flat and open like a SUP, but the seat, pedal system, ergonomics, performance, and cockpit are all kayak-first. The "SUP-like deck" is about storage flexibility, not paddling stance.

Does the Highlander have Scotty or accessory mounts?
Yes — every Highlander comes with four gear-track mounts, and each one does double duty. They take slot-mounted accessories that use track nuts (YakAttack-style gear), and they also accept standard Scotty bases, which thread into four inserts built into the mount. So Scotty, RAM, YakAttack, YakGear, Railblaza and similar accessories all fit right out of the box. You don't need Quad Rails for this — the gear-track mounts are already there.

How long is the rudder pulley cord / rudder cable?
The rudder pulley cord is 2.5 meters (about 8 feet). If yours feels too short, it comes double-wrapped around the rudder blade axle — removing one wrap frees up about 22 mm of extra usable length while still working correctly.
Also asked as: rudder cable length · how long is the rudder cord · rudder pulley cord length · 2.5 meter rudder cord
Can I run the Highlander 140T solo with a single seat?
For paddling, yes — the 140T AirTrek Tandem makes a versatile solo platform with room to spare, and the Treklite seats are adjustable and repositionable. Two things to know before you set it up:
- A single seat in the center is not compatible with the pedal drive. Center works for paddling only, not pedaling.
- You can paddle solo from the rear seat position, but the bow will ride high, which affects performance and steering.
If pedaling solo is what you're after, tell us and we'll walk you through the best seat position for it.

Which Quad Rail length should I use with the Outpost 128 electronics pod?
It comes down to how much gear you want to run, not a single 'correct' size — all three lengths work at the pod:
- 26": the most room for gear. Best pick if you're loading up graphs and accessories.
- 12": good for a clean, minimalist setup.
- 32": works if you want an ultra-wide beam.
Choose by how much you plan to mount, not by the pod's footprint. (The electronics pod itself is about 4.3" W x 13.4" L x 6.75" H, and only the Outpost 128 has one.)

What bolts do I need to mount the trolling-motor quick-release plate to the bow?
Bow trolling-motor quick-release: M6 × 1.0 machine screws in 316 stainless steel — that matches the M6 × 1.0 brass inserts molded into the bow (Terra 116 and Outpost 128). The length depends on the specific quick-release plate or puck you have, so measure yours — we don't have specs for every quick-release on the market, and don't count on the hardware in the puck kit being the right fit for the bow inserts.
Also asked as: what bolts quick release plate · bolts for trolling motor bow · m6 machine screws bow · quick release plate hardware
Do I have to remove the front handle to mount a bow trolling motor?
Yes. To mount a bow trolling motor on the Terra 116 or Outpost 128, you remove the front carry handle so the motor shaft has clearance — that's the case for the Minn-Kota and most trolling motors. It's a normal step in the install, and the bow's Minn-Kota quick-release bolt pattern is right there once the handle is off.
Also asked as: remove front handle trolling motor · do i remove the handle to mount motor · front handle bow motor · handle clearance motor shaft
Can I use a Horizon seat on a Highlander inflatable?
Yes. The Horizon Pro Seat is built for our rigid hulls and isn't a bolt-in fit on the inflatable Highlanders (the AirTrek series) — but you can still run one: secure the seat base to the deck D-rings with tie-down straps and you're good to go. If you'd rather add height without the full Pro Seat, the Horizon Elevated Seat Perch is fully compatible with the Highlander AirTrek and mounts under the standard Treklite seat to add height.

What screws, bolts, and thread sizes do Cajo boats use? (Outpost 128 hardware reference)
Cajo boats use metric machine screws (M3–M6) threaded into molded brass inserts, plus self-tapping screws (3.8–4.8 mm) driven into the plastic. Always use 316 stainless (saltwater). Pitch is standard metric coarse: M3 = 0.5 mm, M4 = 0.7, M5 = 0.8, M6 = 1.0. Match the diameter, head type, AND length — an M5 countersunk and an M5 mushroom-head are the same thread but seat differently.
Thread size by system:
- Power-Pole mount (stern) and bow trolling-motor mount: M6 (the bow quick-release uses M6 × 1.0)
- Traverse rudder base, brush guards, drive mount, and most small fittings (drain plug, J-hooks, skid plates): M5
- Steering rope guides: M4
Common screws by location (Outpost 128):
- Gear tracks / aluminum rails, hinges, buckles, drain valve, most small fittings — M5 × 14 countersunk (flat)
- Hatch seal, hand-hole covers, rod-holder retainers, latch pins — M5 × 14 mushroom / truss (wide flat)
- Foot brace rails — M5 × 16 panhead (plus 4.8 × 16 self-tapping)
- Pedal-drive mount pod — M5 × 20 mushroom / truss
- Carry handles — M6 × 25 panhead
- Electronics-pod latch — M5 × 25 panhead (plus 4.8 × 25 self-tapping)
- Rudder steering-rope hooks, rope cleat, collar mount — M4 × 14 countersunk
- Steering-cable locking bolts (foot-steering side) — M5 × 12 truss / mushroom
- Side emblems — M3 × 10 mushroom / truss
- Central hatch and rod tubes — 4.8 × 19 self-tapping
(Terra 116 differs in two spots: rudder rope hooks use 3.8 × 16 self-tapping, and the handle rope cleat uses an M6 × 16 panhead with a nut.)
The Cajo Kayaks Spare Parts Kit ($99.99) stocks the screws you're most likely to lose, plus handles, D-rings, and fasteners. If you only need a couple, tell us the location (a photo helps) and we'll invoice the exact screws.

What thread size and pitch are the molded inserts on Cajo boats?
The molded brass inserts are metric machine-screw inserts, and the diameter depends on where you're mounting:
- Power-Pole mount (stern): M6
- Bow trolling-motor mount: M6 — the quick-release uses M6 × 1.0
- Traverse rudder base, brush guards, and drive mount: M5
- Most small fittings (drain plug, J-hooks, skid plates): M5
- Steering rope guides: M4
Use 316 stainless steel — essential in saltwater. Pitch is standard metric coarse for each diameter (M4 = 0.7, M5 = 0.8, M6 = 1.0). Tell us which mounting point you're working on and we'll confirm the exact screw, including head type and length.

Known issue — Traverse Rudder Steering Handle cable seize / fray
A handful of steering handles from an early-production batch shipped with too much slack in the cable between the U-bracket and the housing mount. As the handle gets used, that slack gets pulled in and the steering binds or seizes up internally.
Reference video (always link this in customer responses for this issue): https://www.facebook.com/reel/2192584174839504
Resolution: Customer fills out the claims form at https://caminojourney.com/pages/claims-form. Support sends a return shipping label + ships the replacement handle. The swap is the only path — no DIY fix is offered.
Post-replacement check (tell the customer): When the replacement arrives, do a quick visual check before mounting it: the U-connector that attaches to the rudder should show no (or very minimal) visible slack between it and the mount. That confirms the new one is from a clean batch.
