Outpost 128: Yakima EZ Rider and similar trailer fit
Yes — the Outpost 128 rides on a standard Yakima EZ Rider with no modifications, using the same wrap-around pad supports designed for boats like the Wilderness Tarpon.
Yes — for the Outpost 128 you shouldn't have to change anything on a Yakima EZ Rider trailer setup. The hull rides on the same wrap-around pad supports designed for sit-on-top boats like the Wilderness Tarpon, so the dimensions and weight distribution match what the EZ Rider was built for.
What makes the Outpost 128 trailer-friendly
The Outpost 128 is 12'8" long with a wide, stable rigid-PDL hull. That length lands inside the working range of every full-size kayak trailer we've seen — Yakima EZ Rider, Malone MicroSport, Right-On J-cradle trailers, the Goose Cargo, all of them.
The hull's load-bearing channels run parallel along the bottom of the boat, which is exactly what wrap-around pads are designed to cradle. You don't need to adjust spacing, swap pads, or add custom blocks.
What about a single-boat trailer setup?
If you're using a single-boat trailer with PVC bunks instead of wrap-around pads, set the bunks about 6.5" apart on center for optimal balance. That spacing keeps the hull off the scupper area and rides cleanly down the load-bearing channels.
Tie-down notes
- Two cam-buckle straps over the gunwales front and rear, plus bow and stern lines back to the trailer or hitch
- Watch for over-tightening — HDPE will hold its shape under reasonable strap pressure, but cranking down hard isn't doing you any favors
- Pull the drain plug before transport so any rinse water or rain drains as you drive
