Quad Rail bases: included or sold separately

The bases are included in the price of the Quad Rails. They can sit anywhere along the track — you don't have to mount them at the ends.

The bases are included in the price of the Quad Rails — they're part of the kit, not a separate purchase. The bases can be positioned anywhere along the track; they don't have to sit at the rail ends.

What's in the box

Every Quad Rail SKU (12", 26", 32", 44") ships with:

  • The rail itself
  • Two bases — these clamp the rail to the kayak's mounting points
  • Mounting hardware

So when you see "Quad Rail" on the site, the rail + the two bases needed to install it are bundled together at one price.

Sliding bases — install flexibility

The bases slide along the rail and can be fixed anywhere. That matters for a few reasons:

  1. Hardware spacing — your kayak's mounting points dictate where the bases need to clamp. The sliding bases adapt to whatever that spacing is, within the rail's length.
  2. Total install width — the bases extend up to 1" beyond each rail end at the outermost position. Bringing them inward shortens the effective install width. Useful when your gunwale-to-gunwale span is smaller than the rail's max width.
  3. Re-position later — if you switch accessories on the rail and need different base spacing, you can move them without buying new hardware.

A common shopper misread

When folks see "rail" and "base" as separate words on the product page, they sometimes assume the base is an upsell. It's not. The base is part of the rail kit.

If you need extra bases to add more mounting points along an existing rail (rare — typically you'd just slide the existing two bases), reach out to support and we can invoice them separately.
