Quad Rails for a Hobie Pro Angler 12 captain's bridge
We haven't tested it on a PA12 ourselves yet, but 26" and 32" are the most common lengths used for captain's bridges. The bases extend up to 1" beyond each rail end — max install widths are 28" and 34" respectively. Measure your install width and we'll help confirm.
Honest hedge: we haven't tested it on a PA12 ourselves yet. But the 26" and 32" Quad Rails are the most common lengths used for captain's bridges in general, and based on PA12 gunwale-to-gunwale dimensions a captain's-bridge install should be very doable. Measure your install width before you order and we'll help confirm.
How to measure for a captain's bridge
A "captain's bridge" is the cross-rail that runs above the seat, between the two gunwales, so you can mount a battery box, electronics, gripper, or beverage holder in front of the helm.
Measure the gunwale-to-gunwale distance at the spot where the bridge will sit — typically just forward of the seat, behind the standing deck.
- If the gunwale span is 22"–28", the 26" Quad Rail is the right pick.
- If the gunwale span is 28"–34", the 32" Quad Rail fits.
The base-length math
The Quad Rail bases (which clamp the rail to the gunwale) extend up to 1" beyond each rail end when they sit at the outermost position. So:
- A 26" rail can mount at a maximum install width of 28" (26 + 1 + 1)
- A 32" rail can mount at a maximum install width of 34" (32 + 1 + 1)
You don't have to mount the bases at the very ends — they slide along the rail and can sit anywhere, so a 32" rail also works at install widths smaller than 32" if you bring the bases inward.
Why we hedge on the PA12
We've never run a PA12 in the shop, so we haven't physically test-fit a Quad Rail on one. The Pro Angler line has multiple model years with subtly different gunwale shapes, so we'd rather have you send us a photo and a measurement than guess.
If you can:
- Measure gunwale-to-gunwale at the bridge location
- Send a photo showing the gunwale profile where the base would clamp
we can give you a yes/no with the right length.
Once the rails are on
Both 26" and 32" Quad Rails accept the usual track accessories — YakAttack, YakGear, Railblaza, Scotty, RAM. So once the captain's bridge is bridged, the rest of the rigging stays normal.
