Cajo rudder kit: Power-Pole bracket included

Yes — the rudder kit ships with the Power-Pole mounting base. You don't need to buy a separate bracket to mount the rudder to the stern Power-Pole bolt pattern.

What's in the kit

The Traverse Fatback Rudder kit (the one that ships standard with every rigid Cajo) includes:

  • Rudder blade and housing — the working part
  • Power-Pole mounting base — bolts to the stern Power-Pole pattern, holds the rudder housing
  • Steering cables — pre-cut to length
  • Pull-up / deploy cord — for raising and lowering the blade from the cockpit
  • Hardware — M5 x 12mm 316 stainless bolts for the steering-cable side

The mounting base is the bracket most customers worry about because it's the interface between the rudder and the hull. It's in the kit. No extra purchase required.

Where it bolts on

The stern of every Cajo rigid hull has the Power-Pole Micro Anchor bolt pattern with three positions (center plus two flanking). The rudder mounting base bolts to whichever of those positions you want — center is the default.

What's NOT in the rudder kit

  • Foot-steering cables and Slide Lock Foot Braces — these are part of the rigid kayak kit itself (the Outpost series is pre-plumbed for foot steering), not the rudder kit specifically. If you bought the rudder kit standalone (e.g., as a Highlander accessory or a replacement), the steering handle is bundled but the foot-braces are sold via the boat.
