What's included with a Cajo rigid kayak

Your rigid kayak ships with the Horizon Pro Seat, Traverse Fatback Rudder System, and Steering Handle — everything you need to paddle or motorize the boat. Drives are sold separately (with a $300 bundle discount when added with the hull).

Your kayak ships with the Horizon Pro Seat, Traverse Fatback Rudder System, and Steering Handle — everything you need to paddle or motorize the boat. If you want to pedal it, add our Traverse Pedal Drive, or grab the Fin Drive Adapter to use a third-party fin drive (like the Hobie MD 180). All of our watercraft are foot-pedal-drive compatible and can be purchased with or without a drive.

In the box

Every rigid Cajo (Terra 116, Outpost 100, Outpost 128) ships with:

  • The hull — high-performance HDPE with HIN etched into the stern starboard side
  • Horizon Pro Seat — 21" wide x 17" deep base, five position settings, 24" of slide travel
  • Traverse Fatback Rudder System — rudder blade, U-connector, foot pedals, Slide Lock foot braces, deploy/retract cord, steering cables
  • Steering Handle — hand-steering control at the cockpit

You don't need to buy anything else to paddle the boat. Drop the seat in, get the rudder deployed, grab a paddle, and you're on the water.

What's NOT included (and what you'll want to add)

Paddle

Not included. We sell the Avalon Carbon Angler Pro paddle (230–260 cm, 39 oz) — or bring your own. You'll want a paddle on board even if you're pedaling.

Drive — Traverse Pedal Drive or Fin Drive Adapter

Drives are sold separately. Two paths:

  • Traverse Pedal Drive — our proprietary drive with 10:1 gear ratio and instant reverse. Carries a $300 bundle discount when purchased with any Cajo hull (applies on direct AND dealer purchases — not exclusive to any one dealer). Current pricing on the product page. See the $300 Traverse Drive bundle.
  • Fin Drive Adapter — lets you use a third-party fin drive (Hobie MD 180, Pelican, Vibe Hero 2.0–era, Lightning Kayaks). The drive itself is purchased separately from the fin drive manufacturer. Full breakdown: Cajo Fin Drive Adapter: complete compatibility and install guide.

If you don't pedal, you don't need either — the kayak paddles or motors without a drive in the drive well.

Accessories

The optional rigging that makes the boat yours:

  • Quad Rails (gear tracks)
  • Horizon Seat Perch (for elevated sight-casting)
  • Treklite second seat (for kid or co-angler use)
  • Trolling motor + battery + electronics pod gear

These are decisions you make based on how you fish.

A note on the rudder

If your kayak arrives without the rudder or steering handle, that's a first-run kit error — a batch of early Terra and Outpost kits shipped without those components. Submit a claim at caminojourney.com/pages/claims-form and we'll ship the missing parts direct.
