Cajo Avalon Carbon Angler Pro paddle weight
The Avalon Carbon Angler Pro paddle (230 to 260 cm adjustable) weighs 39 oz.
The Avalon Carbon Angler Pro paddle (230–260 cm) weighs 39 oz.
What 39 oz feels like
That's right around 2.4 lbs — comfortably in the "light enough to paddle all day" tier for kayak fishing paddles. For reference:
- Entry-level aluminum/plastic paddles: 40–48 oz
- Mid-range fiberglass paddles: 32–38 oz
- Premium full-carbon paddles: 24–32 oz
- The Avalon Carbon Angler Pro: 39 oz
The Avalon sits in the practical zone for an angling paddle. Pure paddling-sport carbon paddles can shave more weight, but they're built for racing — narrower blades, less catch power, more fragile. The Avalon's blade shape and shaft material are tuned for the way kayak anglers actually use a paddle: short bursts of power between fishing, occasional bracing, and the abuse of being clipped to gear tracks and dropped on docks.
Length
230 to 260 cm adjustable. That covers the full Cajo lineup and accommodates paddlers across the 4'6" to 7' height range. Most anglers settle on a length within a 10 cm window once they've spent time on the water — the adjustability lets you dial that in.
When the paddle gets used
Cajo kayaks are primarily pedal kayaks — Traverse Drive or Hobie MD 180 via the Fin Drive Adapter. The paddle is for:
- Launch and landing — close-quarters maneuvering where the drive isn't deployed
- Skinny water — when you've pulled the drive to avoid hitting bottom
- Bracing in heavy chop or surf
- Backup propulsion — every kayak angler should have a paddle on board, full stop
The Avalon clips to gear tracks or the deck bungees and stays out of your way until you need it.
