Pedaling the Traverse Drive from the Horizon Elevated Seat Perch
Yes — you can pedal the Traverse comfortably from the Perch. Pro tip: add an extra Steering Handle Base and mount it on the Perch's gear track so the handle comes with you when you sit up high.
Yes — you can absolutely operate the Traverse Drive from the Perch. We do it all the time. The Perch isn't an anchored-only or drift-only seat — it works as a full pedaling position once you have one extra piece of hardware on board.
Pro tip: extra Steering Handle Base on the Perch's gear track
Pick up an extra Steering Handle Base and mount it to the gear track on the Perch itself. That way, when you're sitting up high, you can quickly move the steering handle closer to you instead of reaching down for the deck-mounted base.
This is the single move that transforms the Perch from a sight-fishing throne into a real trolling station. The factory steering handle base is at deck height — pedaling and steering from the Perch with the handle still on the deck is a stretch. Moving the handle UP to where you are makes the whole position work.
Trolling from the Perch
Elevated trolling is one of the better use cases for the Perch:
- Better visibility — you can see structure, weed lines, and bait further out
- Better casting angle — accuracy and distance both go up when you're casting from a slightly elevated position
- Easier sit-stand transitions — the Perch is closer to standing height, so you're already most of the way up when a fish hits
The 10:1 gear ratio on the Traverse Drive means your leg cadence stays comfortable even at a working troll speed. Same drive, just from up high.
Works across the lineup
This setup works on every Cajo that runs the Traverse + Perch combo:
- Outpost 100, Outpost 128, Terra 116 (rigid)
- Highlander 100, Highlander 120 (inflatable)
- Highlander 140T if you've rigged it for the Perch — TBD on long-haul testing on the tandem
The extra Steering Handle Base is the same SKU for all of them.
