Traverse Pedal Drive: prop won't align with the indexer
A few early-production Traverse Drives shipped with the prop sitting off-vertical when the indexer is set — sometimes at 45°, sometimes just enough that the prop catches on the way up. It's not adjustable in the field. Swapping the drive is the cleanest fix and we'll ship a replacement after you file the claims form.
Hey — sorry to hear your prop isn't aligning correctly on the Traverse Pedal Drive. A few early-production drives shipped with this issue, and swapping the drive out for you is the cleanest path. We'll ship a replacement ASAP.
What's happening
The indexer is the mechanism inside the drive housing that locks the prop vertical when you raise the drive into the hull. On a small number of units, the prop was indexed slightly off-axis when the housing was sealed at the factory — sometimes at 45°, sometimes just enough that the prop catches on the way up.
- It's not something you can dial in by adjusting at the install step. The geometry is set inside the sealed housing.
- It's not user-error at assembly. You did your install right; the drive was off when it left the factory.
- It's covered. The Traverse Drive carries a 5-year warranty against defects, and this is exactly the kind of thing it's there for.
Trying to take the drive apart to fix it isn't worth the effort — re-sealing the housing properly isn't something we want owners doing in their garage.
Why we swap the whole drive
- Cleanest path — saves you the headache of disassembly
- Fastest — gets you back on the water quickest
- Warranty-clean — the replacement comes from current production with alignment verified at QA
If you purchased through a dealer, we coordinate the swap with the dealer directly in the background so you don't have to manage two threads. You won't need to drive the drive back to the dealer — that piece is on us once the claim's approved.
In the meantime
The drive is fine to keep using — just manually align the prop pointing straight down before raising it into the hull so it doesn't catch on the way up. Drop the drive normally, pedal as usual, then before pulling it back into the hull, give the prop a quick visual check.
How to start the swap
File through the Claims Form. We need:
- Your HIN
- A photo of the misalignment with the indexer set (so we can confirm the angle)
- Your shipping address and phone number
- The dealer you purchased from, if applicable
We'll typically have the replacement order placed within a couple of business days, and a return shipping label for the old drive comes with the new one.
