Cajo warranty coverage

Cajo includes a limited lifetime warranty on the hull, 5 years on the Traverse Pedal Drive, and 1 year on parts — and we handle the claim directly so you don't have to chase the dealer.

Every Cajo kayak ships with a layered warranty: limited lifetime on the hull, 5 years on the Traverse Pedal Drive, and 1 year on parts. That's the headline — the rest of this article walks through what each tier means, what's not covered, and how the claim flow works when you bought from a dealer.

The three coverage tiers

Hull — limited lifetime. Covers defects in materials and workmanship from the date of delivery. If your Outpost, Terra, or Highlander has a manufacturing flaw — a leak, a delamination, a structural defect — we replace it. Coverage is tied to the hull serial number (HIN) etched on the stern starboard side.

Traverse Pedal Drive — 5 years. Covers defects in materials and workmanship on the drive itself, including the gearbox, prop assembly, and crank arm.

Parts — 1 year. Rudder, steering handle, hardware, seat components, and most other replaceable parts. If something fails inside that window from a manufacturing or workmanship defect, we cover the replacement.

What's not covered

  • Damage from top-loaded landing-gear style carts (Boonedox, Wilderness Freedom Launcher, Sidekick). The only cart style we recommend is the YakAttack TowNStow bunk cart.
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Damage from improper rigging, installation, or modification
  • Damage from impact, grounding, or collision
  • UV degradation beyond expected lifespan
  • Cosmetic issues that don't affect function

How the dealer piece works

For parts and drive replacements, we ship direct to you. You don't have to involve the dealer.

For full hull replacements on a boat you bought from a dealer, we coordinate behind the scenes with that dealer so the swap happens locally — no 6-hour drive to return a kayak.

How to start a claim

File through the claims form at caminojourney.com/pages/claims-form. One form captures the HIN, your shipping info, photos, and description in one shot, and routes the case straight into the CAJO Claims Team's queue.
